Securely wiping an SSD #

Guides like this one from CNET, How to securely erase an SSD drive, assure users that ATA Secure Erase can "quickly, easily, and securely erase your SSD drive." Sadly, research has shown that is simply untrue for many, if not most, current drives. Until ATA specifications catch up, encrypting the entire drive and then issuing a Secure Erase command is comparatively safer, though physical destruction remains the only reliable method.
