Daily report of OS X S.M.A.R.T. and RAID status via email #

I use SendEmail to receive the results of an OS X S.M.A.R.T. and RAID check (scheduled to run daily via cron):

# Checks S.M.A.R.T. (for disk0) and RAID status
# then sends results via SendEmail

SMART=$(diskutil info disk0 | grep SMART)
RAID=$(diskutil checkRAID)
echo -e $SMART '\n'$RAID | perl /Users/username/Documents/scripts/sendEmail -f from@domain_name.tld -t to@domain_name.tld -u subject_line -s your_smtp_server

Why SendEmail rather than Sendmail or Postfix?

Virtually no setup required
Highly portable
Can be easily installed, scheduled, and customized by any user on the system
