Fix for HP Touchpad tinny sound issue #
The HP Touchpad suffers from an intermittent audio bug that turns the pleasing strains of your favorite music into a cacophony of scratchy, tinny sounds. Restarting the device restores normal audio, but also causes a major loss of groove during the intervening minute and a half. PulseAudio Restarter does not seem to address the issue.
However, it turns out that there is a magic key combination that fixes the issue instantly. As improbable as it may sound to long-suffering Touchpad owners, here is the process:
- Press Power button to turn off display
- Press and hold the Center button
- Press and hold both sides of the Volume button
- Press and hold the Power button
- After a few seconds, let go of all buttons
- Presto! Audio is restored
