Recover lost data with ShadowExplorer #

Since Vista, Windows has maintained a daily backup repository with versioning (similar to local snapshots in Time Machine) as part of System Protection / System Restore. Strangely, Microsoft buried access to this data away (and in some cases hid it completely); even where available, Previous Versions is hardly straightforward, especially during a desperate search for missing files.

Thankfully, ShadowExplorer provides a simple, intuitive interface for accessing this treasure trove. The portable version is a mere 135K download, and though the .NET Framework is required, it comes preinstalled on supported Windows versions.
